About Emberglow
Emberglow covers home warmth and ambiance technology — electric fireplaces, space and infrared heaters, fire pits, and ambiance lighting — by explaining how they work, what they cost to run, and how to use them safely.
Why there are no product reviews here
The search results for anything in this category are wall-to-wall “best heater” listicles. Almost all of them are affiliate content, and a large share are written without the writer having run any of the products.
Doing it properly would mean owning the units, measuring output in a controlled space, and testing the safety cutoffs. We don’t do that, so we don’t publish it. Inventing test results would be worse than useless, and it’s banned outright by this network’s content policy.
What’s genuinely missing is the layer underneath: the physics that determines whether an appliance can heat your room at all, the arithmetic that tells you what it costs, and the safety facts that matter more than any feature list. Those don’t sell units, which is exactly why nobody writes them.
What’s here
- Mechanism — what each technology actually does with electricity or fuel, and what follows from that.
- Sizing — matching heat output to room volume, insulation, and how you use the space.
- Running costs — the method, applied to your own tariff. We never quote a rate, because rates vary by region and change.
- Safety — circuits, plugs, clearances, siting, and ventilation.
Our rules
- No product names, brands, or rankings.
- No prices and no electricity rates. We give you the formula.
- No DIY electrical or gas instructions. Anything touching fixed wiring or a gas supply goes to a qualified professional, every time.
- No affiliate links and no outbound links at all.
- No invented testing. Where we state a technical fact, it’s a standard, stable one. Where we can’t verify something, we leave it out.
